What is Mold?

Mold is a naturally occurring fungus that grows in damp or humid environments. While some mold spores are always present in outdoor air, elevated indoor levels can indicate moisture problems, hidden leaks, or poor ventilation. Certain molds may contribute to odors, staining, and potential health concerns for sensitive individuals.

Because mold is often not visible, air sampling is one of the most effective ways to determine whether a mold issue exists inside a structure.

Mold testing is beneficial when:

Musty or moisture odors are present
Water leaks or past flooding have occurred
You are purchasing or selling a home
Occupants are experiencing unexplained allergy-like symptoms
Visible mold is suspected but not confirmed

Air sampling provides data-driven insight so informed decisions can be made about next steps, if any are necessary.

How we Sample

Heritage Pest Management performs professional mold air sampling using laboratory-grade equipment and Sporecyte analysis.

Our sampling process includes:

Collecting an outdoor baseline air sample to establish normal background spore levels
Collecting indoor air samples from key living areas or areas of concern
Surface swab samples may be collected when deemed necessary, such as when visible suspect growth is present
All samples are sent to a certified laboratory for analysis
A written report is provided comparing indoor results to outdoor conditions

Surface swab sampling is optional, performed only when appropriate, and available at an additional cost.

Heritage Pest Management performs testing and sampling only and does not perform mold remediation, ensuring unbiased and objective results.
